I'm Awesome
I bought a fully machined block. Checked it over real well and went from there. My aftermarket 6" rods with cap screws would have actually required less grinding than was performed on my block. That sounds awesome L31! Are yougoing to test the setups on the Dyno?
I'm still learning on engines thanks to this forum, but does the 383 require machining? Like, can youget a 350 from the junkyard and swap the 383 crank? Assuming the engine is good to begin with. I think I saw a video where the guys removed some material for crankclearance, but seems a DIY job with a die grinder.
I see good 350s all the time from as low as $200-$300.
Will see the chassis dyno and probably some runs in the TMCC bracket races. The van is pretty dang consistent in bracket racing and it has come close to winning its class more than once years ago. I slept at the light once and broke out a few times in 2nd and 3rd round eliminations. I ran it in stock class once upon a time.
My guess is it will probably end up in "Super Street" class this time around. Usually starts at 8.90 and quicker in the 1/8.
