E brake light question

So I had to take my truck to get the transmission rebuild when I get to the shop I put the e-brake on and when I did I heard a pop sound and then I release the e-brake and now the light won’t go off would anyone have an idea on what would of caused the popping sound when engaging the e-brake and now the light won’t go off?

There is a plastic piece with a copper contact that engages when you slightly depress the parking brake. Very fragilly, you may have broke it. But that would mean you daytime running lights and brake light would not come on. Unless there is a short .

Correction DRL would be on, brake light off. Unless in my case the DRL dose not, relay issue. Think I learned that from df2x4.

How hard is it to replace that piece? And any insight how to replace it?
