I am having trouble with my 1997 K1500 truck. When turning at low speeds and also when braking at low speeds, I get a clunk noise from the drivers side wheel well. Here's what I have checked so far: The brakes and brake calipers are brand new and everything is tight. The tie rod ends, idler arm are all new and tight (in the last 6 months). There's no play at all in the wheel if you pick it up and try to wiggle it left to right or up and down. It makes the noise regardless if you put it into 4 wheel drive or if you are pressing the brake or off the brake. I had the front end rebuilt at 130k, I'm at 148k right now. The transfer case is original, and I've had the fluid replaced 12 months ago, less than 8k miles. The only thing I can think of is that the CV Axle is going, but the right side seems to have more play than the left. The CV axles are original and are not leaking (boots are in good shape). The left side has very little play in it. Am I looking at a bigger problem inside the front differential? Let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions. It feels like a bearing is going based on how it thunks while turning slow and when brakes are applied at low speed. I don't want to take it to the shop but 3 people in my neighborhood have tried to see what is loose and can't figure it out. Thanks!
