Did 7.4l engines not have an exhaust manifold gasket from factory?

My 99 appears to have gaskets. They look like they're a couple layers of sheet metal. I'll see if I can get a picture. I've never had the manifolds off, and I've owned the truck since 99, even though I'm not the original owner. It only had 6000 miles on it, when I got it.
