cold starts?

Around - 15 or -20 for me, I run a block heater and its starts without a problem. Haven't had a ridiculously cold winter for a few years.

Around here, a wool cap (toque.) is considered a block heater!

You might want to check out some videos on cold engine oil pour tests, here's a video I found quick on youtube. Thick oil in winter time is death for your engine...
