I tried this last night, and couldn't seem to get it right.

Do you have to have an adjustable timing light to get this to work? I've got a basic, non adjustable one, and the light never synchronized with the injectors, either with the brown lead disconnected or connected. I tried on the number 1 plug wire (the one closest to the alternator). Should it be there, or on number three, or the coil wire, or ?

How exactly do you do this? I'd like to check the spray pattern on my injectors, if I could.

It's a 93 5.7, fwiw.

Put it on the coil wire, it will flash 8x faster, and you can see the pattern quite fine, it should be nice and conical with no big droplets. Check it at both idle and higher rpm.
