Cat Size

I've got a 97 ecsb 5.7 vortec and need to replace the cats. What size do I need to order? Do I order the same size as the piping or a little bigger? What size?

The factory sizing is 2" on a half ton. You need two, just order 2" the muffler shop can expand them for a slip fit.

Alright will do guys! Any idea how much a shop SHOULD charge me to cut two off and weld two on?

That's going to vary wildly, my guess is about $60.

You can replace the entire assembly yourself if you want to spend about $4-500. I just deleted mine all together

I bought the magnaflow y pipe kit....I think it was around $380? Very nice though. I think its the best option.

My cat is around 11 pounds. He's fat, but he'll do anything for food.

If I could weld I would just cut them both off but I've read too much about how you won't really gain much by cutting them off
