Cargo light mod

I am wiring some lights onto my back rack that I want to use for reverse lights and cargo lights. I was trying to figure out how I could wire this and was going to add a switch to the dash but I think it would work well wiring it into the cargo light switch. the problem is I don't want it to only be activated when the door is open or the interior lights are on. so I wanted to know if anyone has a diagram or knows how to make it so the cargo light switch turns the lights on or off. also any advice or other ideas on wiring it are welcome.

Just use a relay and trigger it from the cargo light, the reverse lights or a dash switch.

Which ever you prefer....or all of them if you add a couple diodes.

I'm going to do the same thing... Wire a relay in that triggers off the cargo lamp switch and the door switch with a diode in each circuit so they don't back feed.
