Can't decide what to do and where to start.

I used some cheap foamy engine cleaner and a little purple power, than after it dries i used CD2 engine detailer. it says on the can no mess or rinsing but i think it looks better after you let the detailer stay on for about an hour or so and then lightly wipe everything down because it looks like it just runs off everything.
