I'm in talks to buy one of these and realized my knowledge about GMT400s was mostly based around the TBI years as that is what my family has had and I currently have.

From what I can tell you get a 4l80E and 9.5 14 bolt pretty much across the board. The one I am looking at is a 350.

What are the common problem spots on these:

Intake
Upgrade spider

What else should I be looking for?

Thanks!

Bad/missing grounds and bad connections. Bad solder joints on the wiper board. Maybe change the upstream O2 sensors. Ignore the downstream sensors until they mess up. Rust in the distributor under the cap. Put a new belt on and mark the old one for direction, put it the sleeve for the new one and throw it behind the seat and forget about it. Change the fuel filter. Other than that enjoy!

Pretty sure you'll see some 2500s with the 4l60e, I think the 6-lug 2500s could come with either trans?

Not in a crew cab. The early 6 lug 2500 had the 700/4L60s, but then didn't make a 2500 crew cab either lol

Were the 6 lug 2500 trucks TBI only? Don't forget those 1500 crew cab conversions by Centurion. But from GM the only crew cabs I'm aware of are 8 luggers.

pretty sure they quit the 2500 6 lug in 95, so making them TBI only. I had a 96 Centurion, had a 305/4L60. But that's a different animal lol.

Not a lot to look out for. I'd add the distributor, including the cap.
