Hey Y’all. I’m new here. I built my wife an ultimate DD, a ‘97 K2500 Suburban with the 454 and 4L80E and a 6” Superlift and 35” Mickey Thompsons. She normally drives about 3 miles each way to work but there are times it would be nice to road trip it. I happen to have an ‘09 Blue Bird school bus with the 6.7 Cummins/Allison Transmission but am having a hard time insuring it and we got a 5th wheel Toy Hauler anyway, so I’m done with the bus idea. Well, a Google search lead me to this post. I realize it’s old and likely outdated, but how likely would that Cummins/Allison combo fit under the Suburban body without too much hacking?

I would rather see you mount the Suburban body on the school bus chassis.... that would look bitchin', a big-time C60-ish dually Suburban.

A body lift would probably give you the space for the Allison. That's the main issue, they don't clear the trans tunnel.
Awesome burb BTW.

Thanks for the comments! I’m thinking she wouldn’t want to sacrifice the ride quality of a body swap, but It’s crossed my mind! I have built some cool toys in the past… here’s a recent example, my 1964 Wheel Horse / Polaris Indy 440 Mashup “Snowmotractor“
