i'm going with a Ford from a 78/79 F250. My yukon has push button 4wd, not the auto, 243 I think it is. I have a Ford 205, eventually going with a 4L80, so just need to swap inputs that I already have. If I had the 60 I'd put a doubler in, but think it would be just a waste since only use it for oh look at me, I have a doubler lol. But 60 prices have gone INSANE. Even 44 prices have gone up. I used to sell 60s all day long, I don't even bother with them anymore. I've seen many trucks with 44s/10 bolts with 40s, 44s, one even had 49s, but was a pavement princess.

thats what i have is the push button. I need to find me a front axle and that’s the year range i want but i may just get a balljoint dana just because im not gonna beat it like crazy anyway. Thats what my neighbor has is the 44 and 10 bolt with 44s but he stopped mudding it because he got tired of breaking stuff, my guess it’s because he didn’t have a 14b and dana 60 lol. I haven’t checked locally for any just online but i saw a couple for over $2000 for a 60 and i aint gonna pay that.

Only issue is if you do decide to upgrade, need to stay with same year. So, if you get a 44 or 10 bolt, then need a GM60 or 78/79 Ford 60. The Ford bringing absolutely stupid money anymore, inless can find one in junkyard or someone that doesnt know what they are. But the 44/10 bolt was 78/79, up to 91 in GM's, but then would have to swap t-cases. 80s Ford 60s are cheaper cause more of them, but have wider spring perch width. The balljoint 60s are the same thing, early ones are the same as the 80s, but the late 90s I think are even wider. Dana 44 have 32", same as 78/79 Ford 44 or 60, and GM 44/60/10 bolt, 80s Ford 60 is 36", newer ones went to 37 or something weird. Don't know if you know, but look for 73-77 Ford Dana 44 from a 1/2 ton, it will be high pinion, but can swap to 8 lugs easy, and since coils, cut those off and weld perches where ever you want. And cheaper to get, since some have no clue what they are....

I knew about the year range because i read the ord kit axle info but I didn’t think about getting a half ton axle and converting it to 8 lug, would everything on it be the same as the 3/4 ton axle except for the lugs? And I’m going with a ford axle because it’s got the passenger side drop and i wanna use my original t-case. How hard would it be to weld the spring purches on?

not hard welding the perches on. Would need to do lil homework to get caster, pinion angle all that blah blah. converting to 8 lug just a matter of grabbing the hubs/rotors, brake stands and calipers. Or you could get 10 bolt 8 lug stuff, then would need everything knuckle out. The 44 I have has the same calipers as the 60. I compared all that stuff when I had the 60/44 side by side.

If your gonna go with a kit for the brackets, I'd highly look into DIY4X stuff. I have their steering kit and SAS brackets, and think their shackle flip too, but their stuff is top notch. The SAS brackets are symmetrical, so once the rears are drilled, they can be flipped to either run 48" springs or 52s, Plus the front mounts have 4 holes in them, so can really fine tune it.

Prices have gone up, but so has everything else. I might do a write up, but it's me working on stuff and me taking the pics, and when I get into working on something I get super pissed if i have to stop for something, even taken a piss lol. But I will try. 99.9% sure getting a garage built in August, so won't have to do **** outside in the rain or mud. I don't want to tear into until I get the majority of the parts I need. I still need complete tie rod set up, calipers, u joints, but that is all simple stuff.
