95 z71 tbi issues

My truck has began to backfire while going up hills and while under load. It's backfiring through the tbi. It has 217k on the original motor and trans. Anybody know of a good place for to start to look for a fix.

eliminate basics. check plugs, wires, cap and rotor. start from there and then we can move on to other areas.

If all that checks good then check the distributor for play ie. Worn bushings or gear.

Sounds wierd for a back fire issue but..... change your fuel filter.... mine was just doing that and I changed the filter and all is good now.. I cut the old filter open and it was nasty... worth a shot and cheap to do...
