Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and I have a project I plan to document. I like many people lead a busy life so I cannot promise constant updates to this thread. This will likely be a long term project. I hope you enjoy.
The subject is a 1990 C1550 with the “Sport” option. It has the Silverado interior with the 5.7 and the getrag 5 spd manual. My father bought this truck from the original owner in 2008 but never titled or drove it. I got the truck from him later that year and used it as a daily driver for about 4 years. The truck ended up back with my Dad in about 2013 and he drove it until the engine lost compression. The truck then sat for many years. I received this truck back from him a few months ago so I plan on putting it back together and using it for my daily in the summer months. Here is what it looked like when it arrived.

Thank you Kennythewelder.
I have decided to start this project by bringing new life into the paint and sorting out some of the trim issues.

I painted this truck back in 2009 using DuPont Nason epoxy primer and single stage gm white. I am not a good painter so there was lots of orange peel and the paint was beginning to become chalky. I am not interested in the cost of a professional repaint at this time so I decided to do what I could with what I have. Compared to how it started I am very pleased with the results.

For those of you that are curious my process is to wet sand with 1500 grit followed by 2000 grit. I the follow that with the two polishes using a foam pad on my polisher and finishing with a coat of wax.

The front and rear bumpers have sustained minor damage through the the years. I don’t want to repaint the bumpers at this time but I do want to take care of these spots. Due to the locations of these bad spots and since they will not be in direct sunlight for extended periods of time, I have decided to use the body color spray paint you see in the auto parts stores. After applying the paint and wet sanding the spots, I believe it will work well. All of the materials for this cost me around 50 dollars.
