The '88 is wired so that the VSS signal goes to the instrument cluster FIRST. The instrument cluster processes the VSS signal, and sends it to the speedo, odometer, cruise control, ABS, and the vehicle computer.

When the instrument cluster circuitry is FUBARed, the speedo, odo, cruise, and ABS quit working, and the computer lights up the Check Engine light. Took me a long time to figure out that my instrument cluster had failed intermittently.

I don't know how the '93 is wired. Time to look at a real service manual.

You have a good point, FWIU the DRAC or VSSB for the 93 is mounted under the PCM behind the glove box. If the 88 harness isn't connected to it, you won't get any signal. Just a SWAG?
