IDK, i could be wrong about it, or maybe it's close enough that it still work's.

I bought my Vortec 7.4 for another project on a whim, then found out the head's and stuff were incompatible with what I wanted to do, so it's just been sitting in my barn since lol.

I think, personally, if I were to do a cam swap, I'd want the adjustable valve train though.

That is the adjustable conversion kit that I used, I believe it is totally worth the money. As far as your uses go I believe that the comp xr264 or 270 would work well. Like I said, I like how it runs in my truck. Either one is going to feel great when compared to the stock cam, and they'll both provide good low end torque. The xr264 may provide a bit better low end torque, but the xr270 will be better for horsepower and the torque will still be good.
