My 6.5 has major blow by. I took it apart today and I got the driver side head off and stopped right there. All 4 had cracked Pistons. #7 was real ugly. The motor was a military take out. It was rebuilt and sold. But it looked like they decked the heads and block and used a stock head gasket and got some tapping.
So I want more than what the 6.5 will do. I am thinking of 3 motors.
6BT 12v cummins. My currents favorite as it's easy install and I already have diesel in the tank.
Use my current 4l80e
5.3. Probably just the 5.3 and use my current 4l80e. Or maybe find a 5.3 with a 6l80e
Ls2 and 6l80e.
The truck is a crew cab dually and I want to add a camper to it and take the kids more places before they're too cool to be with us. One reason I'm leaning towards the cummins is mpg. Another is I wouldn't have to do any real tuning.
But I want to hear from others that have done these. I have done motor swaps and conversions so my ability is up to par. Just not time
