i got a quote for 1600 dollars for a 14 bolt sf with 456 eaton posi

almost seven hundred for the front..

is this reasonable?

course the 16 includes a core as i have a 10 bolt that offers me nothing..

how will this effect the way my 4l60 acts?

its struggling bad with this 10 bolt 342 and 35s

also is a locker or posi a bad idea for a mostly road vehicle

i need advice

Where did you get that quote from? What condition is the axle? What is the price of the 14bsf without giving them your 10 bolt?
It shouldn't make your 4l60 act weird if you get the speedo recalibrated. Also if you have a 4x4, get the front regeared to match the rear. I drive my truck with a G80 locker(basically the same as an Eaton Posi) with no problems.

i swaped the 4l60 for the 4l80 and kept my 10 bolt for now with 456 and a eaton locker and run 37s. i still think it works great! and on my other truck i get a corp14 ff with 513 and detroit locker and run 44s. 1600 is way to high of a price, u can get a 14sf all day for 150bucks. locker and gears are around 700 all together. do it your self and make sure u shim it right! any questions just pm me!

hahahahahha yeah they wanted almost 7 to do the front

well the way he figured it

350 for the 14 bolt..

500 for the eaton

700? in parts

and 250 in labor?

honestly i have a good friend that said 250 and he would do it

but i really want to learn for myself anyways

i gotta head to work

I would like to know what all parts they are going to install. And also the total you posted is equal to $1800, not the $1600 posted before. If you really want to save on the dough, go around to different junk yards and look for a 14bsf with the RPO code G80.

ive got a favorite junkyard i can go to

there is no such thing as a 4:56 sf 14 bolt for these years trucks

in previous years to 88-98 there could have been..

the g80 is what the GOV and then i just have to buy the gears huh..

yeah my mistake

500 parts, 500 posi, 350 for the axletube, and 250 i guess for labor

total he said was 1681 not sure how he broke it down

If i could just get a list of all the parts that I will for sure need..

I am not sure which parts i need besides a 14 bolt, a posi, the gears, and an install kit?
