Ive done some searching and cant find a direct answer to my question. Anyone running 285/75/16 with 3.42 gears? if so, hows it do? I know there'll be a lack of power but thats already the case with 265s. Does it lug going up hills, struggle in o/d, etc?

i had heavy 10 year old 8 ply or something 33's on my old stepside. stock as stock could get engine wise and 3.42's i couldnt break the tires loose but i didnt loose any city or highway rpms or any of that. it was faster than when it had 265's and performed overall alot better with the 33's.

Well with my 97 (305 vortec w/ a 4l60e) I use to have 3.42 and 275/60r15's (28" tall). I had a lot of pep and I could catch 2nd. When I lifted it I put 285/70r17's (~32.5" tall) and I swapped the rearend out and it has 3.73's. So now running 285's and 3.73's it's a compared to what it was! I have a new set of 4.11's waiting to be installed. I need to do it soon. It needs it bad!

ive got 285's and 3:42's on my Diesel. I lost a little bit of pep but not much. Went from 245's to 285's. Also Highway RPM dropped 200

342s have no business being in a truck and 373 is marginal, regardless of tire size imo.
