My most recent thought was to make a plate and shoe horn it into the cubby hole underneath the heater controls.

Interesting. Should be same a in-dash IP type. I am using all 2003 PCM & BCM. The class 2 serial data, power, ground and rest of wires would go to the BCM. I will check my GM eSI for wiring. It should have scroll menu for setting personalization features for all things that happen with lock, unlock for lights and horn that the BCM control. Could fit in my console in the 1967 C10.
