1995-1998 Gas Tachometer differences?

I've been looking at 1995-2000 C/K2500's lately and I noticed some different tachs in the gas trucks. I've seen a 5K tach with a 4.5k redline and a 6K tach with no redline? (I think the 4.5K redline tach is for the 5.0 and 7.4 and the 6K is the 5.7 ? Note sure ?) All my searches lead to "tach problems"

It seems the Late 1991-1994 were all 5K with a 4.5K Redline? Except the 454ss.

Yes they are different. Not sure why but the 95 96 had the red line I think. Not sure why they changed it whenever 6k came out 97-00. Only thing I could think of is the vortec motor. Also fuel pressure changed so not sure if that has anything to do with it either meaning efficiency

My 96 Yukon doesn't have a redline. My 98 tahoe doesn't either. Both 350s. My 97 with a 454 didn't have a redline. In fact, I don't know if I had a truck with a redline...

91.5 - 94 4.5k -5k redline that faded from orange/yellow to red

95-96 had the same 4.5 -5k redline

97+ was 6k and no redline

96 was first yr for vortec but idk why but the redline went through that year

And you didn't ask but I'm not certain on the diesels lol

Also 88-91 had no drac for speedo and 92-95 had a drac and the 96 + got its speed signal from the pcm

Thanks Guys! That is what I am seeing. I just saw a late 7.4 Vortec Truck with the 6k no redline tach. I just never realized all the variations before I started my search.

After I posted this, I went somewhere in my Tahoe. I feel like an ass now, but that has a 5500 redline. But, the cluster is from a Cadillac, so maybe that has something to do with it.
