14 Bolt semi float year

First off, My name is Jo-eL and I own a 98 Gmc Z71, I am new to this site.

So my 10 Bolt finally gave up on me, I shot a spider gear right through the diff cover. I went to the junk yard and picked up a 14 Bolt Gm 9.5" Semi-Floating axle with the 6 lug pattern.

I want to buy a rebuild kit for it as well as a detroit locker. The only problem that I face at the moment is, I do not know what year truck this axle came out of. I need to know this when buying parts for it.

Is there any way of knowing what year this axle was built in?

I was also thinking of doing a disc brake swap, I dont know how hard this would be to do, any suggestions?

do the perches and everything line up with your 10 bolt? if so 88-98

I measured and the shock mounts and perches do match up with my 10 bolt. the websites that I have been going on ask if it's a 97 and older or newer.

ok its from the same body as your truck, so yes go for the one thats says 97 and older
