    L31 to LT1 swap?

No, I never found another decently priced LTx after that car was sold out from under me. I've since swapped in a TPI 355 that I built, but I'm still working on piecing the last bits together. I'm running COP using an EFI Connections distributor with 5.3 truck coils, TPIS runners, and a ported...

Oh... I'm building the Avalanche just not yet. I'll be putting a leveling kit, rear helper bags, exhaust, intake, and some 18x9 with roughly 33" tires. I do have some other cosmetic things I want to do before I start digging into a 05+ D60, and matching rear, and possibly adding in a whirly boy...

Between the super comfortable ride, surprisingly stiff springs for towing, and gobs of power that never seems to end, I am having a blast driving it. Minus the part when I have to stop at a gas station! lol I'm not sure why they didn't offer the 6.0, but on the same hand, I'm glad they didn't...

Well, back to the 96', made some fun progress tonight, finally got the oil pump pickup tube pressed in (don't even ask about that story...) and a 'new' untracked fuel rail was installed. BUT the fella who flow tested my injectors failed to install new o rings, SOO, back to waiting on the...

Yup, FF axle, 10.5" ring gear.

Every great story or thing starts with "That man in Florida" lol. It's a stock engine, so I'm sure I'm within the Ratings. I'd like to get an intake, free flowing exhaust, and a dyno tune, so I might be pushing the limits there, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there

Hmm, one of the biggest options I've seen showed the Allison as an option. How true it is, or how much information out there is questionable.. but also looking at it, the floorboard seems to be more closely related to the pickups, but it's kinda a Frankenstein thing, so who really knows. And...

Yup, I think the Avalanche started in 02, but either way, the 2500s only came in the "body cladding" version, like mine, it has all the ugly plastic. They also had the option of the 6 speed Allison I believe in 04-06. 8.1 was also the only engine option. Mine does have the FF 10.5 14b with disc...

It really is, I've already Dub'd it "The Yeti" other than the two obvious hints at the name, it's quite the monster if you ask me. Gobs of torque, and it gets roughly the same mileage as a 3/4 ton 6.0

I know it's been a while, but between looking for a house, life happening, and waiting on parts, the bottom end is together, top end is together, and all I'm waiting on are for a decent day that isn't too hot, or humid to paint the valve covers and oil pan. Waiting for that to be done to finish...

Between moving jobs, once again, racing season starting up, and waiting for COMP to pull cams off of back order, not much progress has been made, heads have been plopped down on, but after that, not much can be done for the time being. Finally got a better paying, more consistent job, so...

    Hobbs 96 Z71 Build

It's just enough time to sit down, read the wiring diagrams, and the operation. I agree, it shouldnt be hard, but I dont want to figure it out at this time. Maybe one day I'll sit down and do some reading, but today is not that day lol.

Got the block painted ul, ended up settling for GM blue thanks to @Z71Hobbs insight on the blue oilpan :badidea: But I did like how it turned out, so I'm not too mad. Still waiting for the camshaft, going to call them in the morning, and hopefully get an update.

Checked main clearances, as well as rod clearances, all checked out, .0025" on mains and .0023" on rods, clearances the 2nd ring pack to .028" ring gap, and got the pistons all knocked into the block, all I need to do is re-torque the rod bolts, then it's onto oil pump and pickup tube, as well...

    Hobie's Z71

Got the block in and mounted on the stand, checked ring gap, and since there is a huge chance this engine will end up being boosted down the road, .032"/.028" ring gap is what I'll be running, not too concerned with blow by for the time being, and if it becomes a problem, it can be addressed...

Well, let's just say, I may or may not have left it on top of a vehicle, then proceeded to test drive said vehicle. Made it about 4 miles before taking flight on the highway, about 150ft of shrapnel from it lol. And it is a unique setup, if a 383 with a TPI is the plan, I'd honestly reccomend...

Well, let's get this thread started up again, a lot has happened since the last time I've been on here, between building a new 360ci for the racecar, and finally getting everything back for my own engine. Ended up finding some catastrophic issues with the vortec heads, so a decision was made to...

    Window sticker

Well, since everyone else is doing it, heres my 'two page' window sticker from my newest project. I honestly bought this truck for 3 reasons, it's a 3 door 96, still had a set of unused original keys (along with a set of repop that the PO used to drive it), and it has the window stickers.

The dual displays come from GMT400 Suburbans, Tahoe's, Escalades, Denali's, and early GMT800s, the later GMT800s started using the one-star mirrors. Hobs does sell kits that comes with the mirror, temp sensor, pigtails, and a wiring cover, I've installed my own, and if you can wire in a radio...

I really appreciate the interest, and it looks like there will be tons of hurdles to complete it correctly. And like I mentioned before, it's going to be a slow thread/build, so please be patient with me, but I do plan on following this through, no matter what problems I find. I'll have to...

Finally got my new cell phone in, and like I suspected, most of my previous data was lost. But this weekend has been crazy, between changing jobs, and moving everything from my old job, to my new one (including the truck) it's just been absolutely madness. So I think tomorrow will be a well...
