To sawp or not to swap...

The beds are completely different so use your idea to "find a stock 2000 bed and just transplant the lift gate".

Getting rid of the mushy brake pedal; share your tips

Ditto to most of the above. I added a slightly larger diameter piston master cylinder to my '89 K1500, after rebuilding the rear drum pistons, all new pads and shoes, and changing all the fluid. Made a huge difference to the pedal feel. FYI: The rear ABS is necessary on this truck and works great!

4L60E Need to figure out a plan for rebuild.

Definitely replace all the solenoids and the harness. Then pick one of the TransGo kits you like.

    3.08 to 3.42

If you have a 4L60 behind that engine, the 3.42s will give the same overall low gear ratio as a 4L80 with a 4.11 gear. I have both and really appreciate that low 3.1:1 1st gear in the 4L60.

East Coast 2000 K2500 has rust on front end

Typical California mechanic. No ethics, unprofessional and foolish. Dealers are even worse. Very difficult to find a good mechanic, but they do exist. Don't go back to this one. On the other hand, if you think the truck is unsafe, I'll take it off your hands. Just kidding, that truck will last...

    BRAKE BLEED HELP

Use a vacuum bleeder. It's just about the best way to get the air out of the system. The ABS module also needs to be bled.

    Resonation.......

Pictures would be helpful. If the exhaust exits downward, the sound will bounce upward into the body (or bed) and be extremely loud inside the cab. Exhaust should always exit away from the vehicle, the ground and the body.

Blueprint 383 short block and CA smog

My machinist said a 383 won't pass Kalifornika smog. For certain, don't let the smog check know it's a stroker, they'll fail you outright! Good luck, I hope it passes.

    Door hinges

Hinge pins are easy, entire hinges are very difficult. The old hinges need to be cut off, holes drilled and some kind of tool made for holding the nuts inside the body. If the old hinges have oblong pin bushing holes, larger bushings can be installed. Easier than replacing the hinges. The...

TBI Throttle body 88-95 ridge removal

The knee jerk reaction to performance improvements has always been to "smooth things out". If you're looking for low end power, like in a truck engine, you want a rough intake surface so fuel droplets that form are broken up before the cylinders. Smooth and shiny aluminum is for very high rpm.

    Carb vs tbi

Love that EMP comment. If we get nuked, the last thing you'll have is gas to put in your truck. If a nuke goes off close enough to fry your electronics, you won't last long. There are racing classes where carburetors are required. I'm old and ran a tri-power GTO in C stock. That three carb...

Anyone ever heard or seen exhaust plugged up or clogged passed the cats?

Removing the O2 sensor would ruin the performance. The computer would go into "limp mode" and run just enough to get you down the road.

    1991 c2500 , can it tow 6000lbs trailer.

I have a 1989 K1500 short bed with 350 TBI. It's rated to tow (and stop) a 5600 lb trailer. Your C2500 should easily pull another 2000 lbs, with the tow package it can pull even more. We all ran our engines around 3000 rpm at 60 mph before overdrive became popular.

Question about tbi computer on 305-350 swap

Question: doesn't the Jet EPROM replace the factory EPROM? My background is embedded systems but I've never upgraded an automotive chip. The typical way chips are upgraded is by replacing an existing chip with a new one. The old is removed and the new is plugged in.

Adding keyless entry to 1993 Silverado

You can try an Avital unit. My '89 K1500 came with a model 3100, actuators, and fobs. Not all of the features are used, but the starter disconnect and remote door locks work great! You can get replacement fobs from Avital. FYI: You're right about aftermarket fobs. My '03 K2500 has power...

    Let’s talk VOLTAGE

Does it have the correct size battery (or larger) and is it good quality (not Walmart)? My '89 Oldsmobile had a similar problem. Turns out it had a cheap battery that was a smaller rating than specified. Could the wiring have a short-circuit somewhere? How about funky wiring on a new sound...

    Bent Frame

Appreciate any comments you may have. I just bought an '03 K2500HD that turns out to have a bent frame. The front end is bent upwards about one inch, so the winch bumper angles up slightly. I can't see any obvious bend or damage on the frame, but the front of the frame took a really good blow...
