Hello all,

Once again, I have a 97 C1500 Silverado 2wd Obs 5.7 V8. In the process of restoring this old girl, I've added LED Lights and taillights and Put in the LED relay under the dash to stop the hyper flashing.
So I went and got Tow hitch receiver bolted it on and I went ahead added 60" Truck Tailgate Light Bar 108 LED Single Row Light Strip with Red Running Brake Lights Turn Signal White Reverse Light. It uses the 4 pin adapter that goes between the backlights. The truck came with a T connector with a trailer 4 pin coming off of it.
So here is the issue and reason for the post. I noticed during the daytime it was working fine, turn signals come on front and back along with the tailgate light with the light switch off. But with the light switch being on at night I lost my turn signals side markers and rear turn signals, BUT the light bar would work as it should.
I'm not sure what's going on as I've gone and cleaned the grounds, checked the hook-up, all looked good. Even Unplugged the tailgate light from the Circuit and all went back to normal. I really want to use this light, and I need another trailer hookup as well.
Anyone else had this issue, ill post the item I received, so I can see. If there is anything else you can think of, please let me know. I hope this is the correct place to post at and if not I'm sorry in advance.

You need your trailer hookup as stated, and I wouldn't count on all those temporary connections, anyway. Figure out the wiring and make a permanent connection to the harness. If you don't want to tap into the truck's harness, then tap into your trailer add-on harness, at least you've eliminated one set of temporary (plug-in) connections and freed up your trailer connection for actual trailers.

On the truck harness, the colors are yellow for left turn/brake, dark green for right turn/brake, light green for reverse, brown for tail/tag lights. The ground is a white wire that attaches to the frame, coming from the rear lamp harness.

Hard to tell from long distance but the connector on that LED strip may be wired incorrectly (why does it look like a red wire goes to the ground pin?), or maybe your ground from the trailer harness is not connected?

So how they have it,

the Red is separate on the pin, and it goes to the reverse lights.

Didnt see this till now. I have the exact same light, need to check mine and make sure its working right, lol. Pretty sure it does. I cut the plug off, and connected it to the trailer harness. I dunno if that's whats catching you up, but the plug doesn't even match the wiring diagram, ground and running is switched.

Oof, that amazon price.

So I cut the plug and wired into the Factory Trailer harness and still had the same issue with the Headlights on, As long as the Headlights are off they work fine.
Ordered another, going to see if it acts the same way.
If you would please check yours, let me know results.

Ok so update on lights, tried to switch Ground White Running Brown on existing lights on truck and then running lights didn't work.
Open new package and noticed the plug config was different. So I plugged it up with no success. So I snipped the plug, twisted the wires one by one all the colors were right but the Brown and White on the new lights. I had to switch those. So in my conclusion, I got a set of bad lights the first time off Amozon. Typed this out in case anyone else has a problem with these like I did.
Thank you all for the help. Letting me know the Colors of the trailer wires in the Whip was a HUGE help!

You prob already got it right !!

But a worthy ((Side Note)) for anyone doing these Led strips …Make sure you test the turn signals ((Before)) permanent install .. it’s easy to adhere these on Upside down and tie the wires in on the wrong side of the vehicle ..causing ((Driver side))Amber sequential turn to blink on the ((Passenger )) side of truck and vise versa.
I 3m taped mine in place only to have to tear it back off … the mistake stupidly on my part but they don’t tell you which side is Rh or Lh afaik .
