With near zero oil pressure raise the idle speed to give it sone pressure! Better yet pull the engine out
Not diggin it either, Believe 11 might be close to low end service spec and a sb will run a long time on 5 psi, but not good for a fresh build. I seen plenty of engines at 300k miles wore slam out still pushing 30+ psi.

a lot of your running problems is because you have aftermarket aluminum heads & cam on a stock tune

TPS:

It's a stock cam. Want a link to the one I bought? It's no problem.

Stated a few times it was a stock cam, but if not it wouldn't be the first time he fibbed. If not stock he really needs to make that known. I know he asked about cams etc and was advised not to do it unless he was ready to tune. Who knows. The threads are full of good advice. He went off did his things his way , and most times it backfired on him. No pun intended. believe you were involved in some of the threads..

Now you're calling me a liar? No, a$$hat, I'm not lying. It's a stock cam.

I may be naive and bull headed, but I'm NOT a liar.

i don't need a link. like i said you've made the engine more efficient it is going to want more fuel and aftermarket heads will want more timing than the stock map can provide.you can try turning your fuel pressure up, i would try 16-18 but this will only be a band aid

Not sure that can be done with a factory fuel pump, can it? Which, btw, is only putting out 10 psi. That seems awfully low IMO.

Here's a tangent for everyone: I used to have a kerosene fired torpedo heater. It was a very simple machine. Fuel source, ignition source, fan for air, and it was controlled by a small circuit board (I'm guessing it had a microprocessor).

My point? That thing NEVER worked right. It was always spitting and sputtering. Sometimes it would flat out stall, and oh man did that thing STINK.

I was always cleaning out the fuel filter on that thing - and that would make it run ok for a few hours, but went right back to the spitting and sputtering as soon as the fuel filter clogged back up.

I'm trying to relate that experience to the symptoms with this current POS small block.

Fuel pressure is spec’d at 9-13, closer to 13 the better. Have you changed your fuel filter recently?

Yes, the entire fuel system is brand new. Everything. The fuel tank, the pump/sender (third one actually. The first two failed before I even did the engine break in), the fuel lines in their entirety, TBI was torn apart, scrubbed, and rebuilt, and last but not least, brand new fuel filter.

Actually, now that I think of it, the injectors are from the yard. $100 each brand new... NO.

Matter of fact, if we aren't living in heated igloos by tomorrow morning, I'll go out and check the fuel pressure yet again.
