Saying that, leads me into my next question.
While i do occasionally find worthwhile information on this site most of what i read sounds like kids trying to ruin there first truck with ridiculous modifications and children that have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.
Also, the site seems saturated with members that can barely read or write much less form complete thoughts and type those thoughts into a paragraph that is understandable.
Is this what this site mostly is?
Actually, this site is mostly enthusiasts of the GMT400. We're made up of all ages and abilities. We learn from each other and offer advice and encouragement. Some ideas that have been mentioned in the past are unsafe and members are quick to point out why. Perhaps you should look around and get to know the feel of this site before being such a Skeptic.

Misspelled words and improper punctuation may not be the best way to throw stones at others for their misspelled words and improper punctuation.

And while most of us are probably as old as you, or more, doing ridiculous modifications to OUR own trucks is not childish.

"Never grow up" is a much better life motto than "holier than thou"... imo, of course.

Love the truck btw!
I am quite certain I said nothing about punctuation or spelling.

You could have gone with some quotation marks fore and aft with Skeptic- "Skeptic". Just a thought from this ignorant redneck down here in GA. It's all good as they say in de hood. Word.

Well this child who is trying to ruin his first truck, that can barely read or write, who can't much less form a complete thought, figured that I might respond back to our newest esteemed literary member with just a simple capitalization of his username might get my point across. Of course I couldn't capitalize my own username so obviously I should go crawl back under my rock rather than be pissed off that some dirt bag just referred to most everyone here as a child who doesn't have an education or a brain cell.

Ive deep dived this very topic on my 99 4x4 k1500 with my buddy who is a legit fabricator in southern California he builds baja bugs and does custom off road suspension for pretty much everything. tons of mid travel kits for full size vehicles. We explored what it would take to get some 2.0 or 2.5 coil overs on the front and you would need to build custom shock towers in order to achieve meaningful travel on top of tons of testing to get the angle correct and it would be very very tight. It could be done but you'd basically be the guinea pig. Im talking if you wanna do a budget minded "mid travel" upgrade and to restate this you'd be gaining very little usable travel while maintaining 4x4 capabilities

there are a few kits out there for full long travel set up but from what ive seen these are fully custom fabricated kits for 4-6k$. For the price it would take to get decent usable travel out of a coil over swap on the 4x4 you might as well do the solid axle swap of which there are tons of how to guides and kits and can be done for under 2grand if you do the work yourself and you would achieve much greater travel.

for 2wd its a little easier but the towers and upper arms are still the weak points which have to be addressed because with mid travel and long travel kits the type of abuse and stress you put on them is absurd.

all this to say it can be done but ive yet to see a "blueprint" on how to do it so youd be going out on a limb and doing a ton of custom fabrication

Once you start researching the gmt400 IFS suspension design you can see why there arent any major companies that make kits. the GMT800 on the other hand is much much easier and you can gain lots of front end travel with very little.

if this is your daily driver or your one truck its north it IMO, however if your looking to turn your gmt400 into a offroad mostly then go for it but id suggest researching the science behind suspension travel as well as the fabrication because with these trucks just getting coil overs to fit is half the battle. How well they work is the other half

Maybe in the "Lifted and Offroad" section IDK ;)

But no, In general it is not at all what this forum is about.
Many internet forums are full of people that seem to get a kick out off pissing on other less knowledgeable members, kind off like you did in the part I quoted above.

This forum is different.
If you spend some time here you might like it. And if you find you know everything already or, have a buddy that does, How about sharing that knowledge in a non condescending way to the illiterate teenagers that don't.
THAT is what this forum is about.
