None of those screw into the block which is what he specifically requested in post #1.
Yes, and my 1st post was more generic towards that.

Which is also 1/2".

Sure, if it's old and rounded off. 1/2" technically is 12.7mm, and 1/2" doesn't truly fit...
GM, like most manufacturers, have been using metric sized fasteners and require the same metric tools to remove and install hardware since the early '80s. GMT400 included.
"When in Rome, do as the Roman's do". Grab a metric tool.

I'm trying to ground a couple wires I ran does anyone know the bolt size that's on the engine block I have a 305
What year?

On my '94, the bolts in the head and block are SAE, the ground bolt on the back of the PS head is 3/8-16. HOWEVER the transmission bellhousing bolts are 3/8-16 into the block with a (iirc) 8mm stud to attach grounds, dipsticks, and harness clamps. Newer years may have all Metric threads, not sure.

No, they often fit each other fine.

Again, no. Stuff that was engineered years ago like our blocks still use sae fasteners. Sometimes they'll use hybrid fasteners in specific places like starter bolts.
