I haven’t messed with a gmt400 with torsion bars but, I’ve had luck pulling the bar and LCA as a unit and messing with it off of the vehicle.
I've gotten one bushing out as it sits now. Broke some stuff in the process but progress nonetheless.

Have put some heat to the arm to try and draw pb blaster into it with no luck so far. Bar is seized in the key as well so pulling as a unit has worked yet either.

Not sure what changed but the stinkin thing started moving on the bar while i was putting the new front bushing in. With some shaking, and trying to not curse, it came off. There it is with old bushings and ball joint out, cleaned up pockets and waiting for new parts to go in.

Hopefully the driver's side goes smoother.

Throwing in the towel for the night. Don't think my retired neighbor wants to listen to me banging on a control arm late tonight. Got everything disassembled except drivers control arm off the torsion bar. New parts go in and reassemble tomorrow then drop off to an alignment shop Saturday or Sunday for them to align it Monday or Tuesday.

(Ignore the UCA thats loose and holding the caliper.)

I think the shocks are dead. Both have been in that state after being compressed mid afternoon.

i figured they were dead. One was significantly softer than the other, may explain the initial dive to the right when braking that I've been ignoring. Going through front brakes is next on the agenda after getting suspension together and alignment done.

Yesterday's progress included getting the driver side lca off with help from my father-in-law and pressing in the new ball joints while I hand a second set of hands to help. Also tossed the new upper control arms on with new hardware after getting lowers back in place.

Will be cleaning up the hubs and knuckles some before reinstalling them. Wife has to work today so no progress is anticipated here with the three kids underfoot.

I've made some slow progress on this over the past week and a half in short stints either late at night or in 10-20 windows until yesterday when I had the day to myself (but it rained almost all day). Gotten knuckles cleaned up, painted, new seals, new hub bolts and dust shields installed and bearing assemblies bolted on. I'll grab a picture or two later today, maybe.

Wife is working today so I've got the three kids until she gets home at bedtime tonight. We may go to town this morning and try to make some progress on reassembly this afternoon while the youngest naps. Ignore the bed head she just woke up as i was typing this out.
