Hi guys, I hope someone here can help me:

I'm finally getting to actually mess with HP tuners. I opened the VCM Scanner and got readings and graphs with engine running.

But on the VCM Editor my "Read Vehicle" icon is grayed out. I tried with key on/engine off and with engine running.

I have never opened this program. I think I activated it correctly. And I tried the "Resync Interface" said "Resync Completed."

Maybe @Supercharged111 can offer some basic advice?

Did you register your VIN to the license? I can pull tunes on EFILive without doing that, can log too, only need a license to flash the PCM. But HPT is definitely different. @L31MaxExpress would definitely have the answer there

Vin assignment only comes up when saving a file that was read. Would verify drivers are installed and have good connection

Doh! You have to "close" the file! I was able to read, save the file, make my small tweak, rename it and save as, and write the saved-as (tweaked) file.

It's on my 06 Suburban daily driver.

I freaked out initially because truck ran poorly and the cluster said reduced engine power. The scanner said something EVAP large leak and had some Ucode lost communication with TAC module. So, I re-wrote back the stock file.

I did a search and HP tuners forum said sometimes that happens and to delete the U code. So I again wrote the "tweaked" file and did just that.

I put a battery charger on the truck as a precaution so it didn't lose power with key on.

Truck started, idled and sounded good. Just went for a test drive and seems okay again.:)

Thank you.

I'll have to mess with the scanner program when I have more time. The fact that it can record stuff seems like something that's going to come in REALLY handy, for those cases where something acts up only when driving!

Oh yeah, my Z06 lost its mind the first time I flashed it and I crapped my pants. Later I learned the things are just finicky. Just wait until you're pulling fuses and other mindless nonsense to will the thing into taking a flash.

Well, hopefully I can also get my 99 NBS Silverado straight too. It's a swapped L59 engine with stock injectors but with a LM7 ECU/tune. I need to figure out the injector flow rates so engine runs within the fuel trims so I don't get a CEL...or maybe I can disable that via HP tuners?

The 06 had some stupid Small EVAP code... after spending $600 on a fancy smoke machine, no leak found...

Evap codes can be caused by faulty purge valves
Yeah, that was already ruled out, but checked AND tested with a known good one. Had already also changed/tested vent valve too.

The fuel tank pressure sensor seemed like was working good when checked with a DVOM... recall this truck has that unique dual fuel tank/pump setup.

Trust me I tried everything!
