Tips on good mods (think, ‘Big Three’) when replacing starter?

Solenoid dying on starter, so will be replacing soon.

I’ve done the Big Three, and am curious if there are any similar mods to do while putting in the new starter?

Pondering running additional 6 or 4 gauge wires directly to the starter from the battery.

Any pros or cons to this?

Or, are their ANY worthwhile tips/tricks to do in conjunction w swapping out a starter?

The starter is grounded through the mounting surface. Clean and degrease that surface really well. you could add another ground from the engine to the frame if you havent already

I replaced all the main power and ground wires with 2/0 welding cable and it definitely makes a difference. The starter spins much faster and my windshield wipers even move quicker.

Here is a diagram I drew up showing all the connections (plus I installed a second battery and a smart isolator).
