I had mine came just a little loose one day backing out of a parkin spot. Truck died. Wiggled cables a lil n everything came back on. Battery terminals could be wallered out if it's older. Seen some guys switch to a bolt n nut instead of the OEM bolt.
I had this when the bolt on the battery clamp came lose-I couldn't start it for days and finally tightened it up and it fired right up. To my defense I pressure washed it when it happened so I searched in another direction altoghether(grounds, starter).
That dual positive cable setup (in its original form) has a lead spacer in between the two terminal ends, over time it gets mushed and loose. Corrosion also sets up in between and you don't see it until it gets really bad, because the red rubbery plastic ends on the cables hides it.

Dariusz - yours obviously is using terminal converters to attach your side post cables to a top post battery. Still, with the original cables you can experience what I described.

What most do in a pinch is unhook the cables, cut the covering away from the end where the bolt goes through, clean the ends, ditch the spacer between them, and use a shorter bolt to re-attach to the battery. Be sure you use one that is just long enough but not too long, or you'll damage the battery.

OP another thing to check (which the meter test might find) is the ingegrity of the battery cables. The cables on these trucks have been known to corrode from the inside out. This means that it can look perfectly normal and have shiny connections on each end but still pass very little current. By wiggling everything you may have temporarily improved the connection.

Those little spacers probably get lost the first time the battery gets disconnected or changed. I've not seen one on either of my 99 Burbs. Dad put the bolt/nut setup, in stainless steel, on the + cable on the current Burb, and it works well. I have to check the tightness of both cables about once a month; Houston, Texas roads are so bad everything wiggles loose eventually! I've also seen extended length side terminal bolts, for use when the standard size is too short cause you have more cables.

If you don't mind your truck not being factory-stock, chop the ends off and go top post. My Suburban's terminals repeatedly came loose and caused starting issues. When I bought my Stepside the first thing I did was convert to top post. I haven't had an issue since.

As far as attitudes, we don't need to be crapping on each other. Not the new guy who's asking a legit question, not the guy who has trouble with punctuation and run-on sentences, and not even the guy who started the crapping. Tact and politeness matter, and exercising those skills will earn you more respect than any snide remark.

Yup I agree! Civility is getting to be a lost art( and this from someone who is often the first one to make a snide remark!) Tact is a skill that's hard to master....
As for the battery cables, I have considered going top post, but hadn't wanted to hack the cables up any worse. Side terminals are a good design as long as you keep em clean and DON'T overtighten the bolts. Be careful when starting them in those soft lead threads and it works.

"The battery is a brand new ac delco brand and maybe I will pick up a new starter just to have on hand, already looking on Amazon and new ac delco professional series starter for $120 is cheap"

I'm glad you think that's cheap. Around here that's half a paycheck.

I have a group 34/78 battery and am in the process of swapping over to the top terminals. My main positive cable is too short to cut off the end and move it to the top so, I'm using both until I get around to maybe doing the "Big 3" upgrade :waytogo:

I heard that! If it were me, I would pull the starter off and check its connections on the solenoid, and get your local parts store to check it before shelling out $$ for a new one. The problem may just be a loose connection or two ( many intermittent electrical problems are!). Good luck, and let us know what fixes it. Your results may help someone else on here with a related issue!
