My 97 has a 6" lift on 35s with 3.73s. Driving in hilly areas and/or pulling a trailer is just terrible...not much power at all.
I have the semi float rear axle so I'm not worried about its strength. I am concerned about the strength of the front diff having way deeper gears. I don't do any crazy wheeling and don't beat on it...mainly use the 4wd in snow, some sand, and some muddy trails. I don't go bogging in it because I want to keep it nice.
I'm going to regear to either 4.56 or 4.88 so I have some power with the 35s especially to help when pulling a trailer. Will the front diff be able to handle 35s and low gears? Who has done it before and had good or bad experiences?
I tried searching about 10 different phrases and searched the "stupid axle questions" thread. I found a lot of re gear recommendations and stuff but nothing specifically stating if the front diff could handle it.
