Hi my name is Jorden. I have a 1997 Chevy k1500 5.7 vortec and I'm having trouble with a crank no start problem. I got the truck last August and it was running fine other than a cylinder 3 misfire due to a fuel injector. So in october i finally got aroubd to changing the injectors to the MPFI spider injection. After installing them it took a little while to get it started again but I finally got it running. Went to go down the road for a test drive and it started spitting and sputtering and backfiring really bad. Ever since then it will crank bur will not start.

I have replaced:
- Plugs and wires
- Cap and rotor
- Crank and camshaft sensors
- Ignition control module and the ignition coil
- Distributor
- Computer

After replacing all of this I am still experiencing no start. I have 55 psi of fule pressure and the rail with the engine off and the key on. I am not getting any spark. Ive checked for spark on the plug wire and at the coil and I'm not getting any spark from either of those places.

Its really bugging me becauss I usually can fix stuff like this but i cant. Any help would be really appreciated

Sounds like you may have solved it right there. I wouldn't worry about the fuel side if you've got 55psi, I believe the spider injectors need 50 to operate. If you want to be meticulous about it I would throw a noid light on it to test signal at the injectors. I don't think your have any issues on the fuel side. But If your not getting signal from your crank position sensor then your not going to get a spark. I believe it behind your starter on that year but not 100%. I would test it first before you throw anymore parts at it. Here are some documents that helped me troubleshoot a no spark, no fuel condition a little while ago. Its is a great library for our vehicles.

While your at it throw a multimeter or test light on the supply side of your ecu1 fuse under the hood. It should be battery voltage. If all you have is a test light test other circuits and if its dimmer than a known 12v/battery voltage that may be your problem. I'm only saying this because this was the issue that I had and this fuse supplies power to your CKP, IC module and Ignition coil. And here is a link on how to test your CKP.

Crankshaft position sensor on the vortec engine is under the front, angled toward the right side, at the base of the timing cover. Hardest thing about replacing it is getting to it, but since your truck is lifted, maybe you will have an easier time. Hope this helps
