OBSessed
Max's had flat top pistons, whereas your run of the mill 6.0 had dished pistons. This upped the compression a little bit. A few more ponies (25 or so) than a lq4. The tune was a little different too. I don't know the particulars. I've had both and there is a noticeable difference in the way they run. I believe the Max could be had in 06-07 classics and all the way to 13 nnbs. Escalades and maybe Denali's had the same variation of engine as far back as 02 but it was not designated "Max". Believe they just called it 6.0 H.O. Also known as the Lq9. I'm a fan of the 6.0s. Once they are tuned a little better they are cake! The one in my 71 routinely gets 16-18 mpg. I've seen 20 on road trips. The emissions crap is what kills them! I know it can't be helped in some places but around here I've figured out the loop holes! But, but... It says Max on it! It has to be better,,, Right?
