6k? I hope your going coils and a 4 Link
The tires and wheels alone are 3500, rebuild the front 60 with a Detroit will be around 1600, the rear, about 1200, driveshafts... About 800.. Transfer case, another 800, unless I use a doubler.. Then closer to 1500...

I'm sure I'll find a deal or two along the way, like I did with my axles ( I may not use the rear though), but its not cheap

With that kind of cost, I'm further ahead buying the IFS lift kit and leaving it at that.
I'd still say you're further yet ahead with a body lift and your 35s, it'll look cool, and ride stock...

IMO, if you're not going all the way, you may as well do the cheapest thing... I just cut a buddy's truck for 35's with no kind of lift at all... All he does is two track and light mudding, and his truck is rusty anyway hahaha

Is the reduced maintenance cost worth the cost of swapping? Will it make a lift considerably cheaper as well?

How the hell do your rims and tires cost that much? Either way we're comparing lifts here not rims and tires he is going to have to buy rims and tires either way so scratch that off 800 for driveshafts?? No need for a different transfercase, you didn't mention brackets? springs? Steering? You didn't list the stuff you need and you listed stuff you don't so thets try this again prices are just estimates. Front axle i have a 44 with all chromoly internals Regear and built with all the best stuff i have 700 in it. Brackets you can make your own but if you don't want to 500 steering again can be made but there are kits out there for 500 driveshaft custom made $200 leafs 300 so total I figure I'll have at the most $2200 I'd j bought kit stuff. I personally have 2 parts trucks with SAS so I'll part them out use the best of both to SAS my good truck do it that way and you end up making money. Thets not misinform this guy and scare him out of the best option

I have a NP246, I do need a different transfer case.

And you're right, I forgot steering, brackets, and springs, which are close to 2k alone...

There's more than one way to skin a cat, I'm not doing a budget swap, one 40" Pit bull Rocker is 500 bucks... I'm not using half ton axles, I am doing lockers front and rear, kingpins, bearings, races, bore my rear spindles for 35 spline axles, etc etc...

On the whole, while yes people do SAS's for less than 2k, a lot more spend over 5k...

Hell some dude went to space in a balloon, but NASA still uses rockets...

I wouldn't calk SAS the best option, it all depends... If its light duty wh3ling and cruising, bl that sucker n be done with it

Most people aren't that unlucky to get the 246 and yoh can get 241c for $100 all day are your brackets and springs made out of gold? Lol I'm not using half ton axles either the only people who spend over 5k are running g divorced cases on portal axles and if your not you don't know how to find a good deal lockers aren't expensive brand new and definately aren't used SAS is the best option if your running g anything bigger than 33s and Noone will ever change my mind on that
