Yes, I do freak out. But to correct you it would be like having 2 shampoo bottles that look the same but have different ingredients one of which causes my skin to itch just like rockauto.

Yes it does bother me the truck has standard and metric bolts. Being rolled has nothing to do with this situation. When I rebuild something I do it to my personal standards, not yours.

The newer style bearing feels firmer to turn, which I concluded means it is built to tighter tolerances. Just my opinion I know only a few people here think like I do.

I wasn't trying to make you mad, I was just wondering, and pointing out the fact that it seems kind of minimal to have two different looking wheel bearings on trucks that already have a bunch of other oddities that probably matter a lot more. That's all. If it really bugs you that much, then maybe from now on, order from local stores so you can inspect what you're getting, but I wouldn't really bash RockAuto for this. Just because it doesn't match up to your standards (which are a little high, IMO, but that's your choice), doesn't mean they aren't a reputable business providing a valuable service.

Just my thoughts.

I got a pretty good laugh out of this thread! Why bash rockauto when they clearly didn't do anything wrong. You recieved 2 timken hub assembly's with the same part number. You got what you ordered, nothing more, nothing less. Rockauto has good parts at almost unbeatable prices. Send them both back and buy somewhere else if your that unsatisfied.

I'll bash their sub par shiiity customer service all I want, I just wanted to make a point so that other people don't get screwed like I did. Summit racing has never made me unhappy and you get free shipping if you spend $100 and legit parts all factory sealed. That 5% discount was worthless anyway, it only saved me $8 whooopie!!

actually ive had alot of luck with their customer service, i had two radiators go bad, same brand same part, turns out it was a machine defect and i was reimbursed for shipping and all that for sending them back, ended up having a free radiator and some money for the coolant i wasted because they warranted everything plus some. i dont think its their customer service at blame, there the same bearing ones newer ones older hence different part numbers althugh they are the same part number. Summit is a fairly older company and has beaten the bush already, from my understanding rockauto is still out there growing like 1aauto and many others. theres a learning curve but being in a business myself that part numbers change when a part starts to lack quality and gets changed, or something happens, a munufacturer stop selling a seal etc etc. theres so many variables in play but if a company stands by what they sell then its not a bad part. visually its just not what you want performance wise they are in fact the same, and they are timken so hell yea their good! one thing i can say is maybe talk to timken about it. rockauto works closely with the companies they supply so getting both on an issue or in this case something you arent fond of despite nothing really being wrong may yield better results.

You've got yourself stuck in a loop now bub. It's just starting to look like rage.

Send the stuff back and buy something from your local jobber or keep it and install it. They're perfectly good parts.

Either way, you'll be happier than keeping railing on about it....

I'm going to autozone soon to see in person which style they have. If its the newer style I will buy it and return the old one at my shipping expense and be done with it forever. I don't mind paying more for the right part.

Is it possible to take apart the hub assemblies and just replace the bearings? Bearings and drives unlimited ids the cheapest place to get bearings at the best quality.
