how does gap guards make areas rust..

:word::think: By that way of thinking the truck should of rusted up a long time before the body lift. Body lifts aren't my first choice to gain height do the increase body roll and the way frames stick out like a sore thumb on GMT400's but I won't be doing another unless I have gap guards especially ones in the front.

yes front are ok i was more thinking rear. its minor but they trap dirt = moisture = rust. i guess its more of an issue of you mud all the time or something. not a big deal im weird about rust. dont mind me.

Haha Gotcha, As long as you do a half ass job keeping cracks and crevices cleaned up there shouldn't be a problem. Standard frame surface rust is about all we get here, I can't imagine living where they salt the roads.:025:

salt is the worst. i want to move south but i can't handle the heat. a guy i work with bought a 06 ford f-350 and he decided to to do the rear brakes and found out they were all rotted out. put like 600 buck into the rear brakes alone

they manufacture a maximum of 3" because that is deemed safe. Obviously 2" would be a little less stress on your body mounts.

I always cringe at gap guards, yeah they look better but, it doesnt let that area breathe and can promote rust.

mine breathe just fine, I ended up leaving the bottoms "free" to blow in the wind. I have no clue what it looks like driving down the road nor do I care. It looks a lot better than the gaps did. I used rubber interior mat from the parts store, less than 4 dollars a roll, than coated it in rubberized undercoat. Screwed the top on with self tapping screws and called it a day.
