For those of you using the Tech 2--do you have the option to shut off the Damned Daytime Running Lights?

I always assumed that the "Cop Car" service bulletin giving the procedure to kill the DDRLs involved turning the duty cycle of the DDRL module to "zero" in the software using a Tech 2. But I suppose it could be a hardware procedure. I've heard of--but never seen--the Cop Car DDRL bulletin.

I don't know if you can do that, not sure the lamp module is tied to the computer. But i was able to re-calibrate my speedometer for the tire size though so that was cool :) . The coolest thing to me is the snapshot feature because you can set the PID's and go drive down the road for when the event happens and hit record, since it is on a buffer it'll capture everything before you hit the button too so you can look at it at the end of the drive. You can also set triggers, like a specific DTC thrown ect. to take the snapshot.

Another cool thing is all the data list etc. are set up like in the official service manuals so if your using the manual to diagnose you just follow the steps listed in the service manual exactly as written for a tech 2. Makes service pretty easy.

depends on the vehicle. if its a vehicle where the BCM or the PCM have some weird control over it and its a Factory option thats only a software on/off, you prob can unselect it from the build options.

But my park avenue the only way to not have DRL is to have an export wiring job where there is a ground and a change in the wiring for hte headlights so the module just never activates DRL

But in a truck, I would bet you can defeat it with your switch. cant you turn it twice to off and it disables the DRL?

That is impressive. To follow up with Wirlybird said, i am curious to know how that is mounted. Also, do you use the iPad for anything else? Possibly replace the stereo with a multimedia center.

I use a cheap windshield/dash mount similar to the one below but really your setup can only go up from here if you want to spend a little more.

I have had the IPad for several years and hadnt really used it for anything so I gave it a dedicated use. I'm sure I could tie it into the radio if I wired the radio for bluetooth but I was just trying to find the cause to a stumble issue when I took those previous pictures.

All in I only have about $150 invested in that setup. I dont have any pictures of my 'dashboard' that I setup in it but its really cool... I can track fuel economy, engine load, MAP pressure, calculated engine power and torque and hundreds more if I wanted. I have the important ones displayed as real-time gauges. The MX+ is the fastest refresh rate of any OBD2 port analyzer on the market.

I would highly recommend the MX+ and a large display iPad or Tablet mounted to the windshield! It is really nice to have real-time data displayed and logged as you drive. I can feel the problem happen and look over and see what my sensors are doing when it happens.

I know in the suburban's if you push the emergency brake in right before the "brake" light comes on it will kill the DRL and wont set the parking brake at all. Don't know if the trucks are the same. It is pushed in just far enough you have to use the release handle to release it so it wont wiggle out while driving. Something for you to think about if you want to try it.

Nice, got a name of the mount?! I tried my old iPad but it is too old for the app apparently.
I am going to use a Galaxy Tab A 10.1 instead.

Doesn't work on these trucks, at least to my knowledge. I've tried every possible combination of button presses I can find on the internet and nothing works in either of my '97s.

I am going to try this one. Cheap enough and decent reviews. Maybe it will last.

Yup, on my Tahoe it is "one click" and they go out but I don't really care if they are on.
