Just like the title says, I'm curious to know what the GMT400 crew is using as their scanner for the OBDII capable trucks. Bought my truck and first thing I did was register to this forum. I've now done a list of general maintenance/tune up on my daily 98' k3500 7.4. But about two months ago the fuel pump quit, I took it to a mechanic and they replaced the fuel pump, then told me the wiring harness for the fuel pump shorted, which in turn shorted the ECM. Apparently common problems with these trucks? After they replaced fuel pump/wiring harness/ECM to the tune of $1500, the truck has some weird misfiring. In lieu of taking it back to the mechanic, I want to diagnose this myself. After all my lurking it seems a scanner is the first tool to start the job, so show me what you guys are working with, much appreciated.

Up until a few months ago, I was using a Snap-On MTG2500 with 6.2 software--OBD 1 and 2 compliant for GM from 1980 1/2 up to...2005? Ford, Chrysler, Jeep are from '81 or '82-forward. Engine, trans, ABS, air bag, instrument cluster, Bi-directional control, etc. (vehicle dependent) Very similar to the more common and less-expensive MT2500.
Posts 14 and 15, although the back-story is kinda humorous.

But since some idiot who shall not be named but who's initials are ME spilled gasoline on the thing and in the process, solvent-welded the cartridges in place, I'm now using a Snappy Solus Pro with 8.2 software (Domestic + Asian to 2007, no European)

Both units do everything I want EXCEPT auto-bleed the ABS on my '97 K2500. It takes newer software from Snappy to do that. 14.2 will do it; I've heard that "2010" software will do it. Both units will auto-bleed the ABS of my 2003 Trailblazer, but not the '97. Note that I get other ABS functions on the '97--speed sensor readouts, ABS codes, etc--just no auto-bleed.
