I already removed the column shifter linkage and shifter arm. So the lokar floor shifter is functional. I have to get a manual shifter steering column when I get tired of looking at the bump on the steering column from the automatic shifter arm. The hydro handbrake is for drifting. I want to try a little drifting, but I’m more interested in autocross. My plan was to build a truck that I can drift, autocross, drag race and still cruise legally on the street. When I install the handbrake, i want to have a clean installation like in the last 3rd picture.

Pretty sure you cant use a e brake with a automatic. Need a clutch to disengage the driveline to lick up the wheels. And if you want to autocross you Should really think about swapping to a manual.

I noticed a lot more brake power with the revelator. But at that point I had already removed the abs, installed the rear discs had the firm feel master cylinder from ssbc installed(Which is I believe just a 1999 to 2002 master cylinder with a fitting Edelmann 358306 to convert the brake line to the master). Or you can buy the little shop master for $118 from pro performance. So I can’t tell you how much better it would be with just the 14” rotors. I know it will be better. You will still have a mushy pedal until you do the OBS to NBS master cylinder conversion. I will also post a write up for the revelator conversion on this forum later tonight

Yeah, I know with an automatic transmission, its a lot harder to drift, but still possible. I can still lock up the rear ended because the hydro handbrake only hooks up to the rear.I don’t plan on doing it professionally. I won’t be doing that much drifting. I don’t feel like replacing tires every time I go out. My main interest is road coarse autocross. I know an automatic might put me at a disadvantage. But with driver skill and the torque from the 454 plus the procharger. I should be able to compete with a Manuel transmissions. I don’t want to go through the hassle of a manual transmission and I don’t care for sticks that much. I am also installing the factory camaro e brake on the console I made, but thats only in case of brake failure or if I park on a hill.

Better put a really big tranny cooler on there for road racing.
Good point. I know the transmission fluid temp is very important and having a automatic is tougher to do, but possible. A lot of my friend autocross automatics and I know a few who road race autos also. The ss comes with a really big factory transmission cooler and a fan installed on it.A road coarse is probably too long right now. The first thing in will do is drag race it in the 1/8 mile at the night races.. Then probably just start out taking it easy. By starting out running autocross (in the PIR race track parking lot) because they are under 2 minutes. So I won’t be constantly on it for a couple miles like in road coarse. If I decide to run road course. I will take it easy at first and definitely check transmission temperature amongst other things and see how the truck actually does. I’m also not doing this professionally. There’s only about 2 or 3 events a year. Who knows I may not like it much. I may just try it, to say I did it once. I don’t want to be beating on my truck all the time and wearing out too many expensive tires. If I do it too much it won’t be good for the truck.

I think even most purest will agree a 4L80E is the way to go. A 700R4 is not.....

The 4L80E is a th400 plus OD and some electronics.

Sick truck and I did autocross my Dakota 318 auto. It was lowered 4/6 static with wide tires on 17x9 rt rims. There is a lot of heat generated in that 2-3 minute range. Be aware
