While we are in the subject has anyone rigged up a wrench or something for the bolts? They are a ***** to get to.

Flex head ratcheting wrench, and patience.

I've got the Boost Auto mirrors. They shake pretty bad so I've been trying to add wheel weights to the back, which will work, I just need more weight.
And as far as the mirror adjustments, I'm going to shim the base out a couple degrees to make up for the mirror glass being fully adjusted.

Do they at least sit level? Trying to make this work.

I think part of my issue with these are that the truck is 2WD. I think they just look too big on the truck.

Man I've had the same feeling. Look too big. Especially on a srw truck with reasonable wheel specs. You have to have flares and a ton of poke for it to look decent.

Really torn too because I love the overall design of that mirror.

I bought some k2xx non tows to hack up and see if I could fit on the gmt400 as I like their square style, much bigger mirror area etc, but they are a weird integrated pivot base and imo not possible to adapt to the gmt400 mirror bases.

But in light of all the **** talk on these tow mirrors maybe I need to take another stab at it.

They sit level; I mainly bought from Boost Auto because they came pre-wired for turn/marker lights.

Here's a set of old Ebay mirrors I had, lights didn't work, tried to rewire them to be dual function like the Boost mirrors but that failed. They also were canted up at an angle, which I hated it.

Hate to say it because I also wanted the two tone chrome, but I think the all black units give them a smaller visual profile which helps the look.

Looks like I’ll have a second pair for parts if I buy the Boost Auto mirrors. Can the chrome caps be added to the black mirrors?

Do the Boost Auto mirrors fold out securely? These ones flop around like a pair of old *******. They seriously can move front to back a good 1/2”. I’ll have to find a solution for that, because that seems to be where most of the shaking comes from.

Also thinking I might chop these current ones up for CB antennas too. I was planning all along to do like @nickthehick78 did, thinking I’d contribute something original to this forum. Turns out everything has been done on the interwebs.

Not sure on your questions as I have yet to buy a pair myself, but please do a full review for us when you end up with a set. Also, the antenna idea in the side mirror is awesome.

I just bought some tow mirrors like you have, with chrome caps from DNA Motoring. Returning them asap, they are loose and wiggle too much. Can barely see out of them, as the top mirror doesn't adjust "in" very much. The passenger side tilts up, and the driver's side sits level.

Last night I bought some Trail Ridge mirrors from 1A Auto, had good luck on their GMT800 style mirrors before, and these were about the same price as the Boost ones, so I expect them to be better than the DNA ones. The thing I've now fully learned on Amazon tow mirrors: junk, and a waste of money. Get Trail Ridge or Boost tow mirrors. The Trail Ridge ones only come with black textured caps, so I'll have to source out some chrome caps for them sometime.

Here's a video on removing the caps:

Edit: Boost is backordered on their tow mirrors for these trucks, so they would ship out June 1, 2020.

The part I don’t get is that supposedly these all roll out of the same sweat shop in China. Why all the differences?

Did a little maintenance on the truck last night. Flushed the hydroboost/power steering. Oh my, if you guys haven’t done it, you need to. I had a mush brake pedal before but it’s rock hard now. The pump operation is slightly quieter, and steering feels about the same.

One thing I noticed when removing the return line off the hydroboost is the fitting was loose, and ever so slightly weeping fluid. I have to assume it was sucking air too, so got that fixed.

I’m guessing it was probably never flushed, because what came out was really nasty. Used a gallon of Napa fluid, and it’s still coming out a little dirty. I’ll flush again in a few hundred miles.
