Hello all!
I have aquired my fathers old truck. 1997 c1500 5.7 5-Speed. I'm looking to c-notch and lower further. Have some questions.
1) Will pinion angle need to be adjusted?
2) Drive shaft need shortened?
3) Those of you that have done this, do you regret it?
4) My truck is lowered with 2" Spindles.. And I believe 4" springs. I have new belltech coil springs(1" I believe) and shackles. I know most people just do a flip kit.. What would happen if I flipped with those springs?
What would you suggest I do moving forward?

All suspension parts are 2 years old with maybe 1,000 miles on them..

FWIW*** and IMHO I say yes the pinion angle will have be adjusted, pretty easy task, I had to have my driveshaft shortened because it was causing the rear tranny seal to leak
I don't regret lowering mine, it sat about like yours does when I got it. I went with QA1 coil overs in the front for the adjustability. The rear had alrady been flipped but I added 2" shackles and 1" blocks. To get any semblance of clearance I had to redo the C notch with a under bed/over frame notch plus the pumpkin hit the bottom of the bed so I made a little "hat" for clearance, that's because the 454SS has the 14" rear end
It rides decent although on serious dips and such it will bottom out, has room for about 3+" travel, but I have pretty big ties and wheels also.
The fronts are the same story, price we pay to look "cool" as they say.
Good luck

Your truck sits perfect!!
If I have 3-4" drop springs.. I'll need to replace the springs with factory, correct?

Id wait and see what you wind up with after you put the springs on and go from there.
So you are keeping the 2" drop spindles right, and what spring will you use ??
The rear confuses me as to what you have now, and what you want to do

I would have to do the flip and set the bed back on to know, right? I was gonna keep the 2" spindles for the front. Just cut my coil, or get 2" drop coils.
I have 4" drop leaf springs now and a 2" shackle.. This is whats throwing me off.. Im technically already lowered 6" in the back right?
My rear leaf springs are belltech and have a 50 painted on them.

Can anyone verify if beltechs 4" leaf has a 50 painted on top side?
If so, then I currently have 6" in the rear..
I don't have a notch and im not on the frame.

It looks like you have about 3+ " to go in the back if mine is your objective, springs and shackles I have found never do as they say, sometimes they're close other times they're not. If math were true then you could do the flip kit and remove the 2" shackles, replace with stock, and it should come out about 4" lower than you have now wouldn't it ? Lets see 4+2=6 drop so flip kit at 6" minus the 2" shackles = 4" more than now, HUH, now Im confused lol.
Id start with just doing the flip because that's needed to go any lower and see what you wind up with and go from there. Of course you will probably have to do what I did, heres a good video of the mod, under bed/over frame c notch

The front is a snap, just cut the springs right ?
You will also be faced with tire rub as it looks like you have 20" wheels & tires, mine rubbed the fender lip front and back so I trimmed the rear with an air saw as far as I could, the fronts we rolled the lip as far as it wlould go also. Lotta work for the look isn't it, but now im glad about doing it, gets lots of compliments
Heres mine in the flesh so to speak, done a little differently but you get the idea

Yours looks great. How will the flip (6") work with the springs (4")?

Yours is 5/7, correct? What did you use exactly, brand and all?

That's why I thought you would have to do the flip and then see what you got, also while apart with the bed off you can do the C notch thing which I believe you will have to do if you want to be as low as mine.
Your probably right on the front , the back may be a little more, they sat really high when stock.
As fer as brand names I don't know cause it was lowered when I got it, now I know because I put QA1 coil overs in front, the back mods were all custom by a local shop.
One other thing is you will have to get is shock extenders other wise they will be of no use laying flat, I also added a Belltec sway bar out back.
