    Couple Fuel Pump Questions...

IIRC, taking the bed off is simple as: 8 bed bolts, 3 filler neck bolts and 1 ground, and un-plugging your tail lights under the bumper (or you can unplug them from the back of the lights and drop the harness down if someone has hard-wired them). Get a buddy to help you slide it back 12-18" and...

    Help.... Truck not running

From 87 to 95 the trucks had OBD1. However, all the jumper will do is flash the codes. To reset it you need to disconnect the battery for a few hours.

    Help.... Truck not running

Some truck specs would be a good start. But if I had to guess since you can see the injectors that you're dealing with TBI. Sounds like your injectors are flowing way to much fuel. Could be the injectors themselves or a computer issue, although when I lost a computer mine wouldn't open at all...

5.3 or 6.0 swap in Arizona

That's actually a damn good price for a fully rebuilt motor and install, as long as the install includes all the wiring. Most people spend that much just getting a junkyard motor swapped themselves before they're done with it.

Vacuum line hookup for 700r4 lockup harness

You could get the diesel lock-up valve setup from one behind a 6.2. Mine actually has one because it was built for a 6.2 blazer and I scored it for super cheap. It's also kinda nice knowing there are no electronics in it. My connector is only plugged in to keep it clean. I'd just grab a T...

Vacuum line hookup for 700r4 lockup harness

Is this something aftermarket that you're trying to add onto your existing transmission? If you need vacuum there are several un-used ports in the throttle body IIRC.

    Chasing OBD2 codes for inspection

Word Best thing I've done to mine. Runs way smoother now. Although mine was running super rich with the poppets, they'd stick and just dump fuel. Plus, a set of fel-pro's and cap/rotor while you're in there doesn't hurt. The inside of my intake was dirty as a hookers ****** where the EGR...

    High Pressure Power Steering Hose

Definately easy to do. Also, the hoses last a lot longer if you don't hold the steering wheel against the lock and build the pressure way up. Usually it's the crimp that fails, and the pumps build their max pressure when you're trying to push on something immobile (like the stops on the knuckle).

HELP! 92 gmc 5.7 has no spark

Yes, I had an alternator fail and take out my ecm. But it also stopped the injectors, not just the spark. I'd try another ignition control module, if your timing is correct. I've had them DOA on me before. Also check your wiring connections inside the distributor to the module. I had a wire...

    97 shortwide vortec

No, they don't like shitty parts that don't match the OEM specifications. BUT, I've run those same plug wires with no issues, so I'd be inclined to think his set may have had a factory defect or something else going on with the truck. Hell, if it was "sputtering that nasty" he may have had 2...

    Better MPGs?

Tune-up. New plugs, check your wires, new cap & rotor, new air filter, fuel filter, synthetic oil front to back (trans, t-case and diffs will compliment the motor) has been shown to give 2-5% (not much, but it's something). Not a bad idea anyways as synthetics have been proven many times over to...

2000 K2500 old body style with vortec 350

IMO, don't chase horsepower and get a cam to increase your torque. I have a 00' K3500 CCLB w/4.10's....same truck basically, had the L31 stock. It's great once you get up to 20mph or more. The bottom end just isn't great with the factory stall and fairly high 1st gear in the 4L80e. I'm going...

How Much Can YOU Haul IN 1/2 Ton???

Made a run to the dump with 2800#'s. Had no idea as it quit sagging when the overloads hit. That damn spring pack was tough. Now my K3500 literally won't move. I put 900#'s into the bed and measured a 2" drop at the fender openings. Made me realize just how much **** people are packing into...

    350 motor question

Trans wear is not an issue, maybe the clutch but that depends more on the driver. Manual transmissions aren't very picky like autos.

    WOW!!!!! BIG LOAD

Boats aren't that heavy. He also has 3 trailer axles under the only heavy part, which I would assume is 2 BBC's. The rest is just fiberglass. Other than being slow, as long as he has decent trailer brakes there's really no issue towing that with a 1500.

    TH400 and differential gearing

If you stay in town I'd keep the 3.73's. Highway, go up to 3.42s, but it's really not worth regearing if you only drive on the highway occasionally. With 3.73's and a true 30" tire you should only be spinning 3K rpm at 75. Sure, it'll suck a little more gas, but if you wanted fuel efficiency...

    95 4L60E, can only be replaced by 95 4L60E?

Have any of you guys looked at performabuilt? They're the only company I've found that I can't dig up any bad experiences. I've seen a few unhappy customers with Monster across the forums. LOTS of unhappy FLT customers also.

    Driveshaft seems to be delaminating.

Measure your yokes and end to end length. Find a driveshaft out of an older chevy that's steel. The fiberglass ones are also prone to grenade at high speeds. The stock shaft in my 88 RCLB K1500 w/700r4 was within 1/8" of the 91 K2500 RCLB w/5spd. that I stole my 14blt sf out of, so I used the...

How much oil do you use?

My tbi, I just change it when it's a quart low. Seems to average every 6 months, probably 4-5K miles. I just brought home a 2000 w/vortec 5.7 the other day so I'll update that after I get a few miles on it. My yukon has impressed me, doesn't use or burn a measurable amount (but it's LQ4). I can...

    fuel problem

When they've been sitting for that long there's a whole host of problems that can arise. A basic tune-up and full fluid and filter change (engine, trans, fuel, t-case, diffs) is a good place to start. Then I'd clean the injector bodies themselves. Also, gas that sits that long may not be...

SUMMIT TURBO MUFFLER (I NEED REVIEWS)

I used one of their cheap alumanized "glasspacks" (it was packed with steel) and it's held up good, not rusting out or anything. Can't ask for more for the $20 it cost me. However, I can't comment on the sound, never heard one of their mufflers myself. And I would keep it 3" if that's what...

    Replacement Parts???

www.gmpartsdirect.com Not quite as cheap as rock-auto, but they do have some of the more obscure things even rock-auto doesn't carry. It's also a GM dealership. Honestly, the best quality of parts I find usually come from either Napa GOLD or the NEW carquest stuff. Napa gold is always from...

    my 88 messed up again

Eh, I've had many more problems with carbs than TBI. You could do the big 3 and see if that helps your charging issue. If not, it's still a cheap upgrade and does help charging considerably. Have you swapped your battery for a known good one? I've had them drop a cell before and cause issues.
