Maybe someone out there can help with a query...
I've thought about the idea of changing from the single axle to a dually. There's some kits online that seem to make it easy, but I'd prefer to swap out with another truck.

I'm not interested in changing the front end, just the rear. Does anyone know how much work is in it?

Couldn't you put dually simulators on your truck to make it a dually? Not sure, as I have not done this before, saw them being sold in a catalog.

If you want to put an axle in there, it will take a day or less to take out the old axle and bolt the other right in. I just got done with my 1/2 to 3/4 ton rear axle done, took less than a day.

remember, they are not in the States.

The sheer size of our planet is usually the major problem. I'd swap to a manual gearbox tomorrow if there were an easy way. Getting an NV4500 here is near impossible I would think, let alone all the gear needed to make it happen. Buying the gear is still not that hard, but getting it over here would cost just as much I'm sure.

But if someone reading this has a NZV4500 and can part out all the required gear, let me know...

BTW - I purchased some lights for the front bumper holes just to help keep a look out for kangaroos. They fit so well in the holes it's as though they were made for it. I'll get a photo later to show just how well they fit but for now, this is the lights...


The black edging fits behind the bumper hole and the clear lens just fits through the bumper hole- so the fit couldn't be any closer if it were made for it. In other words you cant push them through from behind as the black part stops it going through. The bracket makes it a little easier to mount too

Wile I'm probably a dreamer, my WANT list of mods is now - stacks, dually swap, train horn, fog lights, manual swap, HX35 swap, intercooler, hood scoop, new rims, lowered. Likelihood of completion = 20%

looks like the plug for the lights could use some weather tight connections.
i have one of those lights i bought from dx dot com. it puts out a lot of light for a dome light but doesn't have much projection. your eyes will get adjusted to the near brightness and it could blind you from distance roos which might not give you time to react.
i would recommend a spot beam rather than a flood.
this is just my opinion and i could be way off base.
