I think they switched over to the ZF6 in 2003 for 2500 and 3500s only, all 1500s still came with the NV3500. My dad as an 01 2500HD 6.0 and it has the NV4500.I believe 01-06, any NBS with a manual is a ZF6, the take rate on them was under ten percent though.

Yeah, it seemed like throughout my searches for a 2500 I came across a few with the ZF6, and a couple either had trans problems, or already had it replaced for whatever reason.The only ones I can find reference too are behind Duramax's.
Imo, I really don't think I'd want such a rare transmission lol.
ZF6 appears it would be tuff due to its size and the fact they weren't in a lot of trucks, think I've seen two and both behind dmax. The nv4500 would be a lot easier and more common trans, better option I think. There is a company that is making t56 trans for 4x4 trucks and that would be sweet but prolly cost an insane amount.
What company is this?
