That is weird. It looks like a carrier bearing.

Even a new rubber will still do that unless you power wash it everytime you drive it.
But there's small divots in the extension housing. Like the rubber was so hard it would make dents in it. Crazy.

Of course, that's my assumption on what caused the divot. It could have been from something else. That being said, the rubber is pretty hard.

Yeah, it is OEM. It's called a transfer case insulator.

I’ve seen rubber rub holes in aluminum and steel a whole bunch of times. That’s a terrible design.

I'll just buy another extension housing. I believe it comes with a new seal and bushing, and that bushing would probably be a pain to replace anyway.
