I bought the truck recently, and the wipers never worked. Then out of the blue the things turn on and start functioning properly. Now they won't work again. I believe the column has been replaced in the truck at some point since the factory clips are gone and the wires are spliced together.

Is there a relay for the wipers? where is it located?

I can't find a fuse for it.

How do I test the wiper stalk/cruise control to see if that is the root of my problem.

Thanks,
Blayne

I'd replace the wave-soldered computer board inside the wiper motor. Common problem, easy fix. The board itself breaks, which screws up the conductivity of the circuits. About $40.00 or less.

I will call and get one ordered. Is it plug and play or do I need to solder it in? Any write up that you know of on replacing?

Been awhile since I did mine. You can do the change with hand tools (nut driver) and while the wiper motor is still in the truck. Should take you around 10 mins. or so. Just remove the motor's cover, & the board is right there. Plug & play.

Yup, i believe its 3 torx screws, undo those, unplug board, and install new one.

This may apply to your truck.

Or...maybe not. Comprehension skills are fading as I get older (DAMN!!!) Didn't catch that you have a '93. Check out the recall site listed in the thread below this. You may be lucky. Free fix from the Dealer/stealer? Go for it, if you can.

Good info! Thanks a lot!!!

I called and the board is $28. I am picking one up on the way home to see if it solves it. I wish the recall was for 93, but there is NO WAY the GMC dealer in this town would help me out with this one... I swear they charge me Retail + 20%.
