Will a 5.7 vortec from 2500 work for a 1500

I’m replacing the motor in my 1998 Chevy k1500 and I’m just wonder would 5.7 in a 2500 from the same year would be the same as the one I pulled out thank you

I put the GM crate L31 4-bolt main version in my 1500 Express years ago. Was less than $100 more. Also had a single roller timing chain.

Motor yes. I took one from a 2000 K3500 and put it in a 96 1500. You might have to swap flexplates, as there are differences in bolt patterns for 4L60 and 4L80 convertors, but will bolt up.

Yes, swap over your flexplate from your 1500. The 60e flexplate has 3 bolts while the 80e has 6 bolts. Torque to spec...

Easy enough.

Wish I still had that truck. Well motor/tranny. It had 44k on it IIRC, but had an NV4500. Was 4wd, but need a motor AGAIN for my Yukon, and being a 1 ton should be the HD motor so maybe would survive with the whipple, but would be cool as **** with the 5-speed....
