I need some advice. I have an 88 Chevy Stepside that has mismatched wheels on it. I just happen to have some 5x110 wheels. My question is: would you get a set of 5x127 to 5x110 wheel adapters to make the wheels fit, or would you sell the wheels to get proper fitting wheels? Are wheel adapters worth the purchase?

Aside from the bolt circle, do the wheels have a weight capacity suitable for your Stepside?

I'm not opposed to running adapters, but in this scenario I wouldn't. There's enough wheel choices out there that you're better off selling the ones you have, and getting a set that fit.

Yeah, that is a 17mm difference in bolt pattern, that is huge. Not to mention that the offset plays a big factor in this too. The 5x110 pattern never came on anything that was RWD, so it will be a high positive offset, requiring a massive adapter 30-40mm if not more.

Buy a set of 5x5 wheels.

You would be surprised at how nice those factory wheels can clean up.
Your 100 percent correct. You can see my reflection in mine. I did mine several years ago, and they still look grate. I am on my second set of tires on them, since I polished them. The first pic, is older. The second pic was just a few months ago.

Yes, Kenny your work inspired me do try it on mine. I stripped the clear in the fall and brought them into my basement in the winter before last and worked on them when I felt like it. Been very happy with the results. I thought about having a shop in Goodletsville do them. Great work and their prices were less than a new wheel, but decided to try it myself. Thanks!

I glad you got them done. Your results look as good as mine. Grate job, Donald.
